There you are, going about your day when a friend or family member reaches out to tell you the big news: “Did you hear? Coconut oil raises bad cholesterol and can give you heart disease!”
[Queue the panic]
I mean it’s hard enough trying to explain to friends and family when asked about your change of eating habits because let’s face it, everyone’s got an opinion. What I find is even harder for people is explaining why these articles are bogus and it may even feel like it’s a constant battle. It’s the reason why I created my Full Of It Guide that list my top health misconceptions that you can use as reference.
So since these reports have graced the interweb, radio and TV, a boatload of rebuttals have come out. And there I was feeding my face with organic popcorn laced with nutritional yeast (and yes coconut oil) watching people dual it out. I saw articles that were beautifully written but in a language that not everyone will understand. This made me curious: If people who’ve been using coconut oil intuitively feel that coconut oil isn’t bad for them, do they understand WHY? I mean is it clear enough for them to respond to friends with an educated rebuttal?
After doing surveying 84,672 people (of which 32,196 people responded), 56% answered “yes” to that question.

That’s more than HALF of respondents! And you see, one of the jobs that I pride myself on is providing information in an educated, fun and easy-to-understand way. Which lead to the birth of “Full Of It”, a monthly rebuttal / rant series that I am currently testing out.
So when you wonder:
Is coconut oil good for you?
You’ll now have an educated answer.
In this video, I will go through:
- Why coconut does raise LDL but why it’s the type of LDL that matters
- The type of diet that actually promotes heart disease
- And why you shouldn’t exactly trust the American Heart Association (AHA) based on who they’re receiving funding from.
- Why the reports stated as of late are all old research that were actually proven to have been falsified.
So sit back and enjoy and make sure to share this video with all the naysayers in your life!
