My organic chicken dinner with nine beautiful strangers.

September 3, 2013 By Melissa Ramos

Why organic chicken is better

I’ll admit I was pretty excited to meet and have the opportunity to have dinner with nine of my followers and fans at Mildred Temple. We would be feasting on a Yorkshire Valley Organic chicken dish prepared by food guru herself Chef Donna Dooher. This was an amazing chance for me to connect with the incredible women who I’ve been interacting with on social media for years now. And what better way to connect with like-minded people than to share food with them?

Forget breaking bread together, we were going to cling our forks and dive into an organic green curry chicken instead.

Now some of you might be thinking, who cares if it’s organic? Actually, I do and I’ll tell you why.

The Organic Chicken Difference

Granted, I understand the concern about cost, but when you factor in that your bird isn’t being stuffed with pesticides and hormones, it makes a huge difference. These toxins found in commercial meats may disrupt hormones leading to PCOS, ovarian cysts, obesity, cancer and even infertility.

Support Local

Not to mention, I’d rather support local and large corporations who I feel have given the meat industry in many ways a bad name with packed feedlots, hormone injections and GMO-laced corn feed. Local means you’re not only helping the community but also the farmers who work extra hard to not only put food on their table but ours.

For that I’m grateful and of course, for the nine women I spent time with. Watermelon cocktails, crispy calamari, salad and of course one incredible green curry organic chicken dish. The sense of community that only eating together can bring was evident as nine strangers got together and bonded like they had known each other for years.

So the next time that you feel you’re rushing around and don’t have time to make something healthy, spend money on organic or eat together, think twice.  Studies have shown that families who eat together are healthier and solid bonds are created. But family can also extend further than blood and souls are nourished through good company and delicious whole food.

Now before I start sounding Holier than thou, realize that I believe every now and then cheating is good for your soul and this Lindt chocolate ice cream wrapped in puff pastry was too good to resist.

Cheers everyone.
