Natural Remedies for Fibroids

If you’ve been following my work for a while you may know about my story about the ovarian cyst which ruptured and tore off a piece of my ovary. But what you may not know, is that years later I went into hospital in the evening because I thought I had yet another cyst. Problem is the pain was different, so when the ultrasound at the hospital proved to be clear, I grabbed a copy of my ultrasound report, wiped the mascara smudge from my eyes and went home. The next day, I pulled out my report and there it was, two fibroids. Why they didn’t choose to tell me this information is beyond me, but it certainly reminded me about how I had been taking myself for granted. And why hormonal healing is important at every stage of a woman’s life. Luckily with everything I learned about how to balance my own hormones, my fibroids are now gone.

So what can you expect in this video?

What fibroids are

Truthfully many women who have fibroids never actually feel them, others feel pressure in the abdomen. This can result in constipation and frequent urination. Other women may experience heavy or prolonged bleeding. In my video above and in my free guide that you can get by clicking the link below you’ll understand the different types of fibroids.

How do you test for them?

Generally fibroids are discovered via an ultrasound but if your ultrasound comes back as inconclusive then you can always request to receive an MRI.

Why do we get fibroids

Many people will tell you that the cause is unknown but if you factor that roughly 70% of women get fibroids by the age of 50, you really got to wonder if hormones are a factor – because they are. By the mid to late 30’s progesterone begins to decline offsetting the balance with estrogen. Tack on environmental factors, poor estrogen clearance by a possible sluggish liver and fibroids can be the result.

Many women will opt to get a hysterectomy but it’s important to understand that hysterectomies are not always the solution to your hormonal problems because fibroids can grow back.

Then let’s consider the amount of complex carbohydrates people ingest these days. From breads to pasta, we’re shooting up our insulin levels increasing the “bad” estrogens in our body.

Lastly let’s take a good look at lifestyle factors ladies. As I mention in the video, I am all for feminism, but I do believe that women today are hustling more than ever that they’re burning out. We deem our softness as our weakness and are pushing so hard that we burn out our adrenals. And the second they’re burnt out, the rest of your hormonal system will follow suit. So if you consider yourself chronically stressed, then lifestyle factors are huge. Schedule time with self-care, question your own boundaries and begin asking for help (because let’s face it we’re terrible at doing so).

And lastly let’s talk food. I’ve created a way for you to have your veggies for dessert. Now I know that sounds crazy but I absolutely love this dish. You can alternatively have it for breakfast or even a snack. Here it is:

Coconut Cauliflower Indian "Rice" Pudding

Coconut Cauliflower Indian

Ingredients

  • 1 cup riced cauliflower (you can do this by adding cauliflower to your blender until fine like rice)
  • 1/2 cup dairy-free milk (coconut milk will make it more rich or you can opt for almond milk)
  • 2 organic egg whites
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp dried ginger
  • Raw honey or stevia to taste
  • Pinch sea salt
  • Cracked pepper
  • Options: Top with St. Francis Herb Farm Organic Ghee. If you want to boost the protein count feel free to add in 1 tbsp of cold-soluble collagen from Great Lakes (green bottle) or hemp hearts for a vegan protein alternative.

Instructions

  • Add 1 cup of cauliflower rice to pot over medium heat.
  • Add in the remaining ingredients and mix for 5 minutes, then turn to low and mix until mixture has thickened.
  • Sprinkle at the end with coconut flakes.
  • Option: Top with 1 tsp of St. Francis Herb Farm Organic Ghee
