“Why is losing weigh so damn HARD?”
Since you asked, I’ll tell you some of the reasons you already know…
Food is delicious.
Isn’t it though? If you’re anything like me (or anyone I want to be friends with), you ENJOY eating. It’s pleasurable, and some foods are downright amazing, in their own rite. But, if you’re basing ALL of your food choices on the yum-factor ALONE, you’re not likely to see the scale budge.
Cravings are real.
Raise your hand if you get random hankerings or hangry “must haves.” Chocolate, cheese, coffee, carbs, wine, bread, candy, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on. You know that you need to get a handle on your cravings in order to lose the weight — but how?!
Yes, we all eat our feelings.
We ALL do. Even me. (I’ll admit it.) Food is a sensory experience, so it’s only natural that it would create an emotional response. The downside to this is it’s wayyy to easy to lean on food for emotional needs. Do you eat when you’re bored, lonely, sad, anxious, stressed? Well, it’s all okay, because you’re in the right place.
“Diets” don’t work.
This one’s simple. Nothing that’s supposed to work as a short-term solution is going to be sustainable. What you want is lasting weight loss, and a lifestyle where managing and maintaining your ideal weight comes naturally. Unfortunately, diets will only put you in a restrictive mindset — which has a reverse effect, leading to unhealthy diet-binge cycles and rebound weight gain!
And some of the reasons you might not know #science…
Female hormones & stress don’t vibe well.
Yeah, they’re basically like an old, married couple who should have gotten divorced decades ago. Stress gets angry and yells. Hormones shut down and stop caring. I’m oversimplifying here, but you get the point. Some chronic sources of stress are things you don’t even realize are leading to increased cortisol levels (which causes belly fat), and increased estrogen (which causes stubborn fat around the hips, thighs and bum).
Unknown health issues linger.
Other chronic health issues have a major impact on your weight too. If your digestion isn’t rocking, if you have any symptoms of hormone imbalance (PCOS, fibroids, etc), or if you’re chronically tired – that’s a sign that something is OFF. All of your weight loss efforts will not work unless you address the underlying health issue.
Attachment: it’s a thing.
Like it or not, your weight has been with you for a while, so there may be underlying emotional reasons that it’s stuck around. Maybe the thought of finally losing the weight doesn’t feel “safe” to you for one reason or another. Until you can unlock the attachment code, making the changes and sticking with them will feel (and be) impossible.
Because change is scary.
You’re used to your weight, am I right? You might not like it, but at this point it’s kind of like an old friend. The relationship has hit a standstill but you can’t still seem to let go. This makes it harder for both you (psychologically) and your body (physiologically) to say “bye bye.”
The thing is, in order to lose the weight, you MUST be willing to change.

By now, you might be wondering who I am, so let me stop being rude and properly introduce myself.
I’m Melissa Ramos, founder of Sexy Food Therapy, creator of SLB (my hormone balancing membership program), & nutritionist with a background in Chinese medicine. What all of those fancy titles really mean is this: I help women balance their hormones and get their health in check so they can lose weight, increase their fertility, regulate their periods, shrink their cysts, boost their energy, feel and look HOT A F, and of course: POOP like rock stars. When I joined the program had been searching for months for a more real solution to my weight issues. After years of that cycle of dieting, loosing the weight and gaining it back plus all the issues associated with it I had had enough. My focus started to shift, a bit before the Shed, from loosing weight to being healthy. How much weight will I lose?
Now, this is a question I can’t answer because this is different for every woman. It all depends on your physiology, hormones, stress levels, digestion – and how quickly your body adapts and heals. Women who have done this program have reported a loss of up to 14 pounds, which is aggressive for an 8-week program! That being said, you could lose just a few pounds on the scale but find that your clothes are fitting better and you look and feel amazing. Why? Because The Shed was designed to reduce your overall body fat, inflammation, and old crap (literally!) that’s weighing you down too!
